Specialized Foster Care (since 1978)
The Specialized Foster Care program is designed to provide foster care placement, coupled with a treatment focus, for children and their families with special needs. In addition to case work services, individual, group and family counseling as well as psychological and psychiatric services may be used to assist the child, the child's birth family and/or significant others, when appropriate. Services to the families involved in the Specialized Foster Care program include:
Service Population: Youth who require temporary out-of-home community-based placement and whose emotional or behavioral challenges require treatment-focused foster care. Medically fragile youth, primarily infants, are included. Male and female youth served are at risk of abuse, neglect, dependency and/or deliquency. Ages of youth served ranges from birth to 18 years. Services are provided to youth from Wayne, Macomb, Oakland and Genesee Counties, as well as surrounding areas in southeast Michigan.

The General Foster Care program is designed to provide foster care placement for children who do not require a significant amount or supportive services. Case work services include establishing visitation for the family, providing educational, medical, dental and vocational support when appropriate, and seeking services outside the agency for birth families to assist in alleviating the problems that precipitated the out-of-home placement. Services to children and families in the General Foster Care program include:
Service Population: This program services families of youth at risk of abuse, neglect and delinquency, including male and female youth, birth through 18 years, who require temporary out-of-home placement. Services are provided to youth from Wayne, Macomb, Oakland and Genesee Counties, as well as surrounding areas in SE Michigan.
