Founded in Flint , Michigan in 1978, Robert Ennis established Ennis Center for Children, Inc with only $6,000, which he borrowed from a friend and a commitment to 33 children.  Today, Ennis Center provides foster care, adoption, and innovative delinquency services to more than 2,500 children and families each year.

Ennis Center is the largest African-American led nonprofit organization and fourth largest adoption agency in Michigan. Ennis Center is ensuring that children throughout Southeast and Mid-Michigan have safe, nurturing environments in which to live and grow and provides services to children and families through five office locations in Detroit , Pontiac , Flint , and Port Huron .
